WEBLOG AS AN EMERGING GENRE IN HIGHER EDUCATION

.According to professor Jo Ann Oravec the value of weblog in higher education is that it encourage the growth of unique critical voices, modes of expression that unfold in the context of internet-activity, it can stimulate student interest in larger notions of the social construction of information as well as presentation of self (and perhaps also make plagiarism less attractive), as students explicitly link to each other’s work in a format that fosters currency, individuality, and critical commentary and it also useful for its readers as they can access the hypertext materials in questions and thus acquire an expanded sense of the bloggers’ points of reference, therefore through the personal information that bloggers generally provide either explicitly or through inference, readers can ascertain clues as to their perspective and outlooks. In addition, weblogs have been evolving so quickly as a genre that students can often recognize major development during their course of a single semester. Therefore, Media Ecology Perspectives can assist educators in introduction social constructivist notions in the context of relationship among assorted media and various aspects of media development, with the relatively new weblog structure as a useful subject for analysis.Blogging helps individuals say out  their  point of views and understanding of issues concerning them,people around them and the world as a whole. a lot of people in higher education prefers communicating via text massages than a face to face talk. it even works as an advantage since one is able to communicate with people they know and the ones that actually do not know of far from them.

i noticed that most students make each of the blogs their own in design ans content including photographs. when i was off campus i normally used blog relate to events and everything happening at campus.it has been really fun getting to read about peoples thoughts emotions and how they actually handle tough situations that are personally and academically related.it also have been a wonderful experience to go back look on what i have posted though i know blog its intended to be read by others.it actually helped  me learn a bit about myself and appreciate my couple of semesters in TEC


students should be advised to used blogs to read news ,articles written by different authors.students should be motivated to read atleast  one article from different authours the give a feedback on what the article was about  in that way they will be actively involved in learning through blogs other than gossiping.
